15 questions parents ask AI before choosing a pediatric clinic, and what answers them

I took the real questions parents ask AI before choosing a pediatric clinic and checked them against the same 17 real homepages I scanned for AI readability.

Parents do not start by calling a clinic anymore. They open ChatGPT or Perplexity and ask something like which pediatrician near me is open on Sunday, or what does a pediatric consultation cost in my city, and they expect a direct answer before they ever dial a number. The AI can only answer with what it can read on the clinic's own page, so the real question is not whether the clinic has the answer. It is whether the answer exists as text an AI can lift.

For the companion study I published today, I scanned 17 real Indian pediatric and child specialist clinic homepages across 10 cities. For this post I took that same set of pages and checked them against 15 questions a parent is actually likely to type into an AI before picking a clinic: timings, fees, vaccines, emergencies, qualifications, location, and more. For each question, the fix is the same sentence, over and over. Put the fact in plain text on the homepage, because an AI cannot read an image, cannot open a PDF, and cannot fill in a contact form to find out.

The 15 questions, and the fix for each

What time is the clinic open today?

State the clinic's daily hours in plain text on the homepage, not only in a Google Business listing.

If an AI cannot find your hours in text, it sends the parent to whichever clinic did publish theirs.

Is the doctor available right now?

Show today's OPD schedule or doctor in and out timing as a plain sentence, not as an image of a timetable.

A parent asking right now wants a plain text answer, not a phone call to find out.

How do I book an appointment, and can I just walk in?

Spell out the booking process (call, online form, walk in accepted or not) in a sentence, not just a Book Now button with no label text.

A button with no surrounding text is invisible to an AI reading the page.

What is the consultation fee?

Publish the consultation fee as an actual number on the page, even a starting from figure.

Parents comparing three clinics ask AI for the cheapest, and a clinic with no fee in text is not in the running.

Is the clinic open after hours, on Sundays, or for emergencies?

State after hours, Sunday, and emergency availability explicitly, or say plainly that there is none.

A worried parent at 11pm needs a yes or no in text, not a guess.

What vaccines does my child need next, and does the clinic have them?

List the vaccines administered and the immunization schedule followed as plain text, not just the word vaccinations.

We offer vaccinations answers nothing. The schedule and the stock do.

What are the pediatrician's qualifications and experience?

Write the doctor's degree, specialization, and years of practice on the page, not only on a framed certificate in the waiting room.

Credentials a parent can see when they walk in are invisible to an AI that never walks in.

Where is the clinic, and is parking available?

Print the full address and a line about parking or nearby landmarks as text, not only as an embedded map.

A map with no caption tells an AI nothing. A sentence does.

Does the clinic handle newborn and well baby checkups?

Name the newborn and well baby checkup services in a sentence, not just an icon on a services grid.

New parents ask this first, and a services icon without a label does not answer it.

Can I do a video consultation instead of visiting?

State plainly whether teleconsultation is offered and how to start one.

A parent who cannot leave the house will ask AI, and only a clinic with the words video consult on the page counts as an answer.

Does this clinic treat fever, allergies, asthma, or growth concerns?

List the specific conditions and concerns treated, not only the word pediatrics.

A parent typing allergy specialist for kids near me needs the word allergy on your page, not just your specialty.

Does the clinic accept insurance or cashless treatment?

State which insurers or cashless schemes are accepted, or that none are, as plain text.

Silence on insurance reads as no to both a parent and an AI.

How long is the wait, and can I pre register online?

Mention typical wait times or an online queue or token system if one exists.

A parent choosing between two similar clinics picks the one that says how long the wait is.

Does the clinic track my child's growth and development over time?

Describe growth charting and developmental milestone tracking as a named service, not folded into general checkups.

We care for children is not the same sentence as we track growth and developmental milestones.

What languages does the doctor speak?

Note the languages spoken by the doctor and staff, especially in a multilingual city.

A parent who needs to explain a symptom in their own language filters by this first.

What I found scanning 17 pediatric clinic sites

The scan behind this list found a median score of 77 out of 100 across the 17 homepages, ranging from 40 to 100, with two clinics landing a perfect 100. Structured data turned out to be the single biggest dividing line: the 9 clinics that publish JSON-LD scored a median of 92, while the 8 that do not sit at a median of about 54. That is a gap of nearly 40 points explained by one technical layer most clinic owners have never heard of.

The more specific gap, and the one that maps directly onto this list of 15 questions, is FAQ schema: only 3 of the 17 clinics have it. FAQ schema is the format built specifically to let an AI lift a question and its answer straight off a page, which makes it the most direct fix for most of the questions above. This is not a content problem. All 17 sites have readable text and 16 of 17 are accessible to AI crawlers, so the words are already there. What is missing is marking those words up in a way a machine can parse as a direct answer.

The pattern under all 15

The clinics that answer well share one habit: they state facts as plain, structured sentences right on the homepage. Timings in a sentence, not a schedule graphic. Fee as a number, not contact for pricing. Vaccine list as text, not a brochure PDF. Address with a caption, not just an embedded map. None of this required new content, just writing down what the clinic already knows.

The clinics that miss do it the same way every time: the fact exists, but only behind a phone call, a contact form, or a call us to know more line. That works fine for a human willing to wait on hold. It fails completely for an AI, which cannot call, cannot wait, and simply answers with whichever clinic did put the fact in text, even if that clinic is objectively no better.

Frequently asked questions

How many pediatric clinics did you actually check for this?

I scanned 17 real Indian pediatric and child specialist clinic homepages across 10 cities for the companion study, then checked those same pages against these 15 parent questions.

What is the single biggest factor separating a clinic that answers well from one that does not?

Structured data. The 9 clinics with JSON-LD scored a median of 92, the 8 without it scored a median of about 54, a gap of nearly 40 points.

Is having the information on the site enough?

Not for an AI. All 17 clinics in the scan have readable text and 16 of 17 are accessible to AI crawlers, so the content exists, but only 3 of 17 have FAQ schema, the format that lets an AI lift a question and answer directly.

What is the fastest fix for a clinic that scored low?

Start with the questions parents ask most: timings, fee, and vaccine availability, and write each as a plain sentence on the homepage before touching anything else. Structured data and FAQ schema come next.
