15 questions coaching and edtech students ask AI, and what answers them

A parent typing 'best coaching for NEET' into ChatGPT decides which institute gets a call before either of you ever finds out.

Students and parents now ask AI assistants before they ask a counsellor. I scanned 21 Indian coaching and edtech sites (JEE/NEET prep, UPSC prep, online learning platforms) to see whether the pages could actually answer the questions a family asks before enrolling.

Median AI-readability score across the 21 sites: 83 out of 100. That sounds decent until you see the range: 23 to 92, the widest spread of any vertical I have scanned. 9 sites graded A, 7 graded B, 3 graded C, 1 D, 1 F.

Two numbers explain most of the gap: 0 of 21 sites have FAQ structured data (FAQPage schema), and only 6 of 21 have a single clear H1 heading, the most basic 'what is this page about' signal a browser or an AI engine looks for. The category split surprised me too: the big JEE/NEET brand names scored the worst (median 63.5), UPSC prep institutes scored the best (median 86).

The 15 questions, and the fix for each

how much does neet coaching cost for the 2 year batch

A Course schema block with an offers property (price, priceCurrency) placed beside the plain-text fee on the page lets an AI engine quote the actual number instead of guessing from a screenshot of a fee chart.

If the fee only lives in a JPG, no AI can quote it.

when does the next jee dropper batch start

Dates written as plain text, ideally inside Course schema's startDate field, beat a poster banner every time. AI engines cannot read text baked into an image, so a batch-start banner that exists only as a JPG is invisible to them.

A date inside a picture is a date no AI can see.

how many students cleared neet last year from this institute

A dedicated results page written as real HTML text (number selected, exam year) beats a topper photo collage. Even one plain sentence like 'X students selected in NEET 2026' gives an answer engine something to cite.

A topper collage is a picture, not proof.

who are the faculty teaching organic chemistry here

An EducationalOrganization or Person schema listing each faculty member's name, subject and qualification, backed by a plain-text bio paragraph rather than just a headshot grid, gives AI something to name.

A photo grid tells AI nothing about who is actually teaching.

is there a scholarship test to reduce the fees

Publish the scholarship process (eligibility, discount percentage, test date) as plain text on a dedicated page. FAQPage schema would help most here, since 0 of the 21 sites I scanned use it at all.

Zero of 21 sites markup this answer, so whoever adds it first wins it by default.

does this institute offer online classes or only offline

State the delivery mode in the page's H1 and opening sentence. Only 6 of 21 sites in my scan have one clear H1; most bury this basic fact inside a rotating banner image instead.

If your H1 does not say what you offer, neither does AI.

what are the class timings for the weekday batch

A schedule written as real text, or captured in Course schema's courseSchedule property, instead of a scanned timetable image that an AI engine cannot parse.

A scanned timetable is a picture of an answer, not an answer.

is there a center near me

Each branch listed with a full address in EducationalOrganization or LocalBusiness schema, or at minimum a plain-text address block per center, not just an embedded map with no surrounding text.

A map widget with no text address is a location AI cannot cite.

does the course include study material and test series

A plain bullet list of what is included, tied to the same Course schema entry as the fee, so the answer engine can lift the inclusions directly instead of inferring them from a brochure PDF.

If it is not readable text, it is not part of the answer.

how do doubts get cleared outside class hours

Describe the actual mechanism (app, WhatsApp group, live doubt sessions) in a plain paragraph or FAQ entry. None of the 21 sites I scanned mark up FAQs at all, so this is currently unanswered by every one of them.

Support you offer only counts if it is written down somewhere AI can read.

is hostel or accommodation available for outstation students

A plain-text section, ideally an FAQ answer, stating whether hostel is available and the rough cost, instead of a hostel photo gallery with no supporting text.

A photo gallery answers a browsing student, not an AI engine.

what is the refund policy if I drop out after one month

A refund policy written as its own FAQ answer (FAQPage schema) is likely the fastest win in this whole list. It is a question every parent asks, and 0 of the 21 sites I scanned currently answer it with structured data.

The refund policy is a one-paragraph fix zero competitors in my scan have taken.

can I attend a demo class before paying

State how to book a demo or trial in plain text near the top of the page, on a page with one clear H1 that says what it is for. Only 6 of 21 sites in my scan pass that basic H1 test.

If AI cannot tell what the page is about, it will not tell a student how to try it.

does the crash course cover the full syllabus

List the syllabus topics as real text, ideally inside the Course schema description field, rather than a syllabus PDF that answer engines rarely open or index.

A syllabus locked in a PDF is a syllabus AI will not read.

which is the best coaching for neet in kota

The category split from my scan explains who is winning this question today: UPSC prep institutes scored a median of 86 versus 63.5 for JEE/NEET brands. The biggest JEE/NEET names have more recognition but less readable text for AI to cite from.

The biggest brand name does not automatically win the AI answer, the best-structured page does.

What I found scanning 21 coaching and edtech sites

The clearest number in the scan is the structured-data gap. 16 of 21 sites carry some form of JSON-LD schema markup, 5 do not. The sites with it scored a median of 86, the sites without it scored 52. That is a 34-point gap from one technical fix: a script tag that describes the organization, courses and pricing in a format an AI engine can parse directly instead of guessing from a page's design.

FAQ schema is where every single site failed. 0 of 21 have FAQPage markup, meaning not one institute in the sample has told an AI engine 'here is a real question a student asks, and here is the exact answer.' Given how often the same handful of questions come up (fees, timings, refund policy, hostel), a properly wired FAQ section is close to a guaranteed win right now, because nobody in this sample has taken it yet.

The H1 problem is more basic and just as common. Only 6 of 21 sites have one clear heading stating what the page is about. The rest bury the subject in a banner image, a slider, or a page title that repeats the brand name with no context. And the category split says something about brand strength versus readability: the JEE/NEET institutes, several of them national names every parent already recognizes, scored the lowest median of any group (63.5). Edtech platforms sat in the middle at 80.5. The UPSC prep sites, which lean on written content more than marketing banners, scored highest at 86. Recognition does not read as readability to an AI engine.

The pattern under all 15

Almost every gap in this scan comes back to the same habit: coaching sites publish their most important facts as marketing images, a fee poster, a topper collage, a batch-date banner, a syllabus PDF, instead of as plain text or structured data. A human scrolling the page can read a poster. An AI answer engine generally cannot.

The fix is not a redesign. It is writing the same facts (fees, dates, faculty, results, refund policy) as real text on the page, adding FAQPage schema for the questions asked every day, and giving every page one clear H1 that says what it is about. You can grade your own coaching site free to see where it stands on all three. This scan of 21 sites gives a rough idea of where that lands you: 86 median with structured data instead of 52 without it, plus a real shot at being the first in your category to answer an FAQ an AI engine can actually cite.

Frequently asked questions

why don't coaching institutes show up in ChatGPT answers

Usually because the facts a student is asking about, fees, dates, results, exist only as text inside an image or PDF. AI answer engines read text and structured data, not the pixels in a poster or banner.

does schema markup actually help a coaching website

In my scan of 21 coaching and edtech sites, the 16 with some form of JSON-LD schema scored a median of 86 out of 100 versus 52 for the 5 without it, a 34-point gap.

what is the single biggest gap on Indian coaching websites

FAQ structured data. 0 of the 21 sites I scanned have FAQPage schema, even though fees, refund policy and timings are exactly the questions students ask AI most often.

do students and parents really use AI to choose a coaching institute

Increasingly yes. Questions like fees, batch dates and selection record are now typed into ChatGPT or Gemini before a family ever opens an institute's website, which is why the page needs to answer them directly.
