I scanned 14 Indian preschool sites for AI visibility

On 2026-08-10 I scanned 14 Indian preschool and daycare chain homepages for AI readability, and the median score was 87, even though almost none of them answer the questions a parent actually asks an AI before a school visit.

Nine of the 14 scored an A, four scored a B, one scored a C, and none scored a D or an F. That is a strong showing: the basics of AI readability, clean markup, structured data, working meta tags, are mostly solved in this vertical. But choosing a preschool is one of the most question heavy decisions a parent makes: fees, age cutoffs, timings, safety, teacher-to-child ratios, meals, curriculum, transport. Those are exactly the kind of questions FAQ schema is built to answer for an AI, and only 3 of the 14 sites publish it. So the real story here is not a vertical in trouble. It is a vertical that has done the easy 80 percent and left the one layer that actually answers a parent's questions on the table.

Where preschools land among 28 verticals

The median score across the 14 sites is 87, the mean is 84.6, and scores range from 58 at the low end to a perfect 100 at the high end. That puts preschools 16th of the 28 verticals I have scanned so far, squarely mid table, tied with dental clinics, eye clinics, ayurveda centres and physiotherapy practices. The top of the table (dietitians and immigration consultants) averages 91.5. The bottom (gyms) averages 53.5. Preschools sit closer to the top than the bottom, but there is real room between where they are and where the leaders are.

My read on why preschools land here: most of the sample is chains and franchises, and chains run on modern, templated sites built by an agency, which is why structured data and clean markup show up almost everywhere. What pulls the median down is the tail: the smaller, less templated centres, including the site that scored 58 and the one site in the sample without structured data at all. Independent, single location preschools without a franchise's web team behind them are where the gap actually lives.

Structured data is close to solved

13 of the 14 sites have JSON-LD structured data on their homepage. Structured data is what tells an AI system, in a format it can parse directly, what kind of business this is: a preschool, a daycare, a childcare centre, along with basics like the name, address and hours. Without it, an AI has to infer the same information from body text and hope it is reading the page correctly.

At 13 of 14, structured data has become table stakes in this vertical. It no longer separates a well optimised preschool site from an average one, because almost everyone already has it. The one site without it is also among the lower scorers in the sample, which is the pattern you would expect: it is usually one missing piece among several, not a site that got everything else right and skipped this.

FAQ schema is the gap that matters

Only 3 of the 14 sites have FAQ schema. That is the number that should sting a little, because a preschool search is one of the most FAQ shaped purchases a parent makes. Before a visit, a parent is asking an AI: what are the fees, what age do you take, what are the school and daycare timings, is there CCTV and how is safety handled, what is the teacher-to-child ratio, do you provide meals, what curriculum do you follow, is there transport. Every one of those is a textbook FAQ question, and FAQ schema is the exact format that lets an AI lift the answer straight from the page instead of guessing.

The smaller gaps sit around this one. 10 of 14 sites have a single, clear H1, which means 3 fail even that basic structural signal outright. 9 of 14 have a clean, well formed page title. 11 of 14 have Open Graph tags, which matter less for AI answers and more for how the page previews when it gets shared. None of these are dramatic on their own, but they stack on top of the missing FAQ schema, and together they are the difference between a site an AI can read cleanly and one it has to work to understand.

What to fix, in order

  1. Add FAQ schema answering fees, age cutoffs, timings, safety, teacher-to-child ratio, meals, curriculum and transport.
  2. Give every page one clear H1 that states what the page is about.
  3. Write a clean, specific page title instead of a generic one.
  4. Add Open Graph tags so the page previews correctly when parents share it.

Method and limits

These are 14 real Indian preschool and daycare chain homepages, scanned live on 2026-08-10 using the same engine behind the free Report Card tool on this site. I looked at the homepage only, not a full crawl of the site, so a preschool with strong FAQ content buried on an inner page would not show up here. Every number in this post is an aggregate across the 14 sites, and no preschool is named. One honest caveat: this sample skews toward national chains and franchises that already have a real web presence, so an independent neighbourhood preschool without an agency built site is probably weaker than this sample suggests.

Frequently asked questions

What was the median AI readability score for the 14 preschools scanned?

The median score across the 14 Indian preschool and daycare chain homepages I scanned on 2026-08-10 was 87 out of 100. The mean was 84.6, and scores ranged from 58 to a perfect 100.

Do preschool websites in India have structured data?

Yes, almost universally. 13 of the 14 preschool homepages in this scan have JSON-LD structured data, which tells AI systems what kind of business the site belongs to. It is close to table stakes in this vertical now.

What is the biggest AI visibility gap for preschools?

FAQ schema. Only 3 of the 14 sites scanned have it, even though choosing a preschool is one of the most question heavy decisions a parent makes. FAQ schema is the format that lets an AI answer those questions directly from the page.

What should a preschool homepage state clearly for AI to read it?

Fees, the age range accepted, school and daycare timings, safety measures like CCTV, the teacher-to-child ratio, whether meals are provided, the curriculum followed, and transport availability. These are the exact questions parents ask an AI before visiting, and stating them in plain text, ideally as FAQ schema, is what makes a homepage AI readable.
