I scanned 18 Indian ayurveda and panchakarma clinics for AI visibility

I scanned 18 Indian ayurveda and panchakarma clinics with my AI readability engine. The median score came back 87 out of 100, among the strongest verticals I have measured.

I run a free tool that scores how readable a web page is to AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews: does it have structured data, FAQ schema, Open Graph tags, one clear headline, the things a machine parses before it decides whether to quote you. On 29 July 2026 I pointed it at 18 Indian ayurveda and panchakarma clinics and wellness centres: urban outpatient clinics, heritage Kerala hospitals, and residential resorts. I expected the usual story, a handful of leaders and a long tail of sites nobody built for AI. Instead the median score came back 87 out of 100. This vertical is already close to being AI ready. The interesting question is not whether ayurveda sites are visible, it is what the last few points are still costing them.

How strong the vertical actually is

Ten of the 18 sites scored an A, 85 or above. Six scored a B, two scored a C, and none scored a D or an F. The range ran from 53 to 92, but the low end was rare. Most sites clustered high.

Split by business model and the story holds. Urban outpatient clinics (7 sites) had a median of 88. Heritage Kerala hospitals (4 sites) came in at 85. Residential wellness resorts (7 sites) sat at 83. All three clusters score well, and the gap between the strongest and weakest group is only 5 points, small next to the gaps I have measured elsewhere.

For comparison, Indian gyms I scanned with the same engine had a median of 53.5. Ayurveda is not the single strongest vertical I have measured, but it sits near the top, tied high with the other strong performers.

The standout: structured data is nearly universal here

16 of the 18 sites publish JSON-LD structured data on their homepage. In most verticals I scan, this is the single biggest gap: the page reads fine to a human and says nothing to a machine. Here it is close to solved.

The 2 sites that skipped structured data scored 53 and 59, a median of 56. The 16 that publish it have a median of 87.5. That is a 31.5 point gap tied to one missing signal.

Structured data is not a nice to have. It is the label an AI reads to confirm what kind of business you are, where you are, and what you offer, before it ever tries to summarize your prose.

Where the vertical is still leaving points on the table

Only 2 of the 18 sites have FAQ schema. Only 4 have a single clear H1. These are the two cheapest fixes available, and almost nobody has made them.

FAQ schema matters because it is the exact shape an AI answer engine wants: a question, paired with a direct answer, marked up so the engine does not have to guess where the answer starts and ends. A page without it might still contain the answer in a paragraph somewhere, but the AI has to work harder to lift it, and it often will not bother.

A single clear H1 matters for a simpler reason: it tells the engine what the page is actually about. A page with three H1 tags, or none, forces the AI to guess the topic instead of reading it off the page.

The smaller gaps in the sample:

  • Open Graph tags missing on 4 of 18 sites, so previews come back blank.
  • FAQ schema present on only 2 of 18 sites.
  • A single clear H1 present on only 4 of 18 sites.
  • 2 of 18 sites skip structured data and score 31.5 points lower for it.

What to fix, for the sites still behind

  1. Add JSON-LD structured data if your site is one of the 2 that has none, this is worth the most points.
  2. Add FAQPage schema for the questions patients already ask you, my free schema generator builds the markup in a minute.
  3. Collapse your page to a single clear H1 so an AI engine knows exactly what the page is about.
  4. Add Open Graph tags so your links preview properly when shared.
  5. Run my free Report Card to see which of these four you are still missing.

Method and limits

I scanned all 18 sites live on their homepages on 29 July 2026, using the same public engine anyone can run on my Report Card tool. It checks structured data, FAQ schema, Open Graph tags, page title, and H1 clarity, the signals an AI answer engine reads before it decides whether to quote a page. It is homepage only, a snapshot in time, and one page is not the whole site: a clinic could have a stronger blog or service page than its front door, or a weaker one. The results are anonymous and aggregate, no clinic is named.

Frequently asked questions

Why does AI visibility matter for an ayurveda clinic?

More patients are asking AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity questions before they book, not just searching Google. If your site does not give those engines a clean, machine readable answer, a competitor's site will get named instead, even if your treatment is better.

What is structured data and why does it move the score so much?

Structured data, usually JSON-LD, is a hidden block on the page that states facts plainly: this is a clinic, here is the address, here are the services. An AI engine reads that block to confirm what your page is before it trusts anything else on it. In this study, sites without it scored 31.5 points lower on average.

Is a score of 87 actually good?

Yes, relative to what I have measured elsewhere. Ten of the 18 sites in this study scored an A, and Indian gyms I scanned with the same engine came in at a median of 53.5. But 87 is a homepage snapshot, not a guarantee an AI will name your clinic, and the gaps that remain, FAQ schema and one clear H1, are the ones worth closing next.

How do I check my own clinic's site?

Run my free Report Card tool on your homepage. It scores the same signals used in this study, structured data, FAQ schema, Open Graph tags, and headline clarity, and tells you exactly what to fix first.
